Rodna Mountains National Park is in the North of Romania and it is located in the center area of Rodna Mountains.

Since 2000, a part of Rodna Mountains became Rodna Mountains National Park, the second largest in Romania, in order to conserve and protect the biodiversity and to encourage soustainable tourism. It is surrounded by mythical romanian lands as Land of Maramures in North and West, or the 'civilization of wood', famous for wood sculptures: churches and monasteries, traditional gates, wood tools etc. In Est, there is Bucovina, the Land of old monasteries founded in XVth century by Stephen III of Moldavia (also known as Stefan the Great) and in South there is Nasaud Land, all three which also preserve traditions, customs and traditional architectural elements.
The park is famous for the highest peaks from Eastern Carpathians: High Rocky Peak (2303 m), Inau Peak (2279 m), High Buhaescu Peak (2257 m), Inaut Peak (2222 m) and also for Quaternary glacial landforms which are visible especially on the northern slope of the mountains such as: glacial lakes (Iezer, Buh?iescu, Ineu-Lala, Negoiescu, Puzdrele, Horses Spring etc.), canyons (Bistricioara Canyon), waterfalls (Horses Waterfall which is the highest from Romania - 80 m, Puzdrele Waterfall).
Regarding biodiversity, there are a lot of floral and fauna species protected by law or endemic species of which some are glacial relicts: The Queen Flower, yew tree, black grouse, wood grouse, chamois, marmot, carpathian stag, tree marten, bear, wolf, lynx etc.
The tourism in Rodna Mountains National Park is growing because the number of tourists who are crossing the hiking trails is increasing. They are desirous of fresh healthy air, spectacular mountains views, spending time in nature and discovering wild holidays destinations. The access in the Park is very easy because there are a total of 18 hiking trails which start from many cities, resorts or villages: Borsa in North, Sangeorz-Baths, Maieru, Anies, Rodna and Sant in South-East, Rebrisoara in South, Romuli and Telciu in West. The absence of the seasonality phenomenon is also another reason why Rodna Mountains National Park is so popular: during winter to ski on Borsa and Blazna Valley ski slope and during summer tourists have many options of exploring the area by choosing the hiking trails or horseback riding. In Sangeorz-Baths Resort or in surrounding villages such as Rodna, Romuli, Parva, Cormaia, Maieru, Anie, The Wine Valley, Sant etc. they can use the hot springs for treating diseases.
Rodna Mountains National Park with its imposing peaks is not a destination easy to 'conquered' but once you've done it, you will always want to come back here.
